Multi Platinum award winning artist Terri Clark returns with her brand new album “The Long Way Home” on Capitol Records/EMI Music Canada, September 1, 2009.
Self produced, “The Long Way Home” is a collection of songs that shape who Clark is as an artist: country injected with rock, soul, strength, clarity, blues, passion and conviction. The blues-steeped first single, ‘Gypsy Boots‘ debuted at #42 on the Country Radio charts and was the most added track at Country Radio its first week out.
“Working with EMI has been the most refreshing experience I could possibly hope for at this point in my career. The excitement and enthusiasm for this record and the new music is infectious and just makes me want to work as hard as they are to make it a priority, and ultimately a success.” Terri Clark
Whether it’s the aggressively turbo-charged ‘Poor Girl’s Dreams‘, the steamy ‘If You Want Fire‘ or the delicate balance of two lives in ‘You Tell Me‘, Clark’s full-throated tenor continues to blaze with a full spectrum of emotions. The result is a record that captures the tides of adult lives, great passions and the struggles that mark a journey.
“You know, I’m being as I am….not ‘I am woman hear me roar’ or ‘I’ll rip your face off’,’ Clark offers with finality. ”No, this is the part of me that gets hurt and scared, that wants and dreams and knows it’s all so much bigger than I am. Once you figure that out, you decide to make the things you do matter. That’s all you’ve got that you can deal with - and that’s something it took me all the way to here to figure out.”
With more than four million albums sold and nearly a dozen Top 10 hits to her credit, Terri Clark has emerged as a singular voice on the country music landscape - driving, passionate, spirited and every bit her own woman. She’s a dynamic, no-holds-barred live performer and one of the rare female country artists capable of throwing down some impressive guitar work.
The Alberta native has toured with such superstars as Brooks & Dunn, Reba McEntire and George Strait on her way to becoming an eight-time, fan-voted Canadian Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year, a CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nominee and the first Canadian female country artist to be a member of ‘The Grand Ole Opry’.
“The Long Way Home” is the first album Clark has made since her mother Linda was diagnosed with cancer. Terri put everything on hold to be by her mother’s side and during that time, she thought long and hard about what she wanted, the choices she’d made and who she wanted to be. What emerged was an album that was as alive, as strong, as soul-country as the woman herself.
It may be “The Long Way Home“, but listening to the songs, is absolutely worth the journey.
The track-listing for “The Long Way Home” is as follows:
- Gypsy Boots
- If You Want Fire
- A Million Ways To Run
- Tough With Me
- Merry Go Round
- The One You Love (featuring Vince Gill)
- Poor Girls Dream
- If I Could Be You
- What Happens In Vegas (Follows You Home)
- You Tell Me (featuring Johnny Reid)
