KATY PERRY JOINS CREATIVE FORCES WITH EA’S THE SIMS

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announces the beginning of an extensive and exclusive creative collaboration between Katy Perry, one of today’s biggest superstars, and The Sims™, one of the most popular gaming series of all-time. In collaboration with Perry, the world-renowned The Sims Studio plans to develop multiple games within The Sims franchise featuring special Katy Perry themed in-game content and virtual goods. The relationship kicks off with a special Collector’s Edition for The Sims™ 3 Showtime, launching in March 2012.

PLANTS AND ANIMALS ANNOUNCE TOUR, LIGHTSHOW 7”, & SHARE COVER OF WOLF PARADE’S “I’LL BELIEVE IN ANYTHING”

Plants and Animals are pleased to announce a North American tour this March and April in support of their new album, The End of That, out February 28 on Secret City. This is the band’s first tour as a four piece, having added a bassist to their live show. A full list of dates is below.

The band will also release a 7” for “Lightshow,” the first single off of The End of That, which will be available in stores on the same day as the CD/LP. The 7” features a live cover of Wolf Parade’s “I’ll Believe in Anything” on the B-side. A digital version is now available on iTunes and other online retailers.

“For You” Marks Urban’s First Song Ever Written and Recorded Specifically For a Motion Picture

Relativity Media is pleased to announce its upcoming collaboration with Grammy® Award-winner Keith Urban for the heart-pounding Navy SEAL action-thriller Act of Valor. Urban’s “For You,” co-written by Urban and Monty Powell, marks the first time that Urban has written and recorded a song specifically for a motion picture, and it will be featured during the film’s end credits. In theatres February 24, 2012, the Bandito Brothers’ Act of Valor stars a group of active-duty Navy SEALs along with Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nestor Serrano and tells a powerful story of contemporary global anti-terrorism. Urban’s current single “You Gonna Fly” is currently #10 on the country radio charts and climbing.

“I loved the challenge of writing for a film,” said Urban. “I’ve never done that before. After seeing Act Of Valor, my co-writer (Monty Powell) and I wanted to capture the essence of not only what these men and women do so extraordinarily, but how that relates to all of us. ‘Valor’ shows us what they are willing to give their all for, which made me wonder, ‘what am I willing to give my life for?’ ‘For You’ is intended to allow the listener to define who that is for them.”

The Act of Valor soundtrack, featuring the song “For You” by Urban, will be available digitally on iTunes® and physically in music retail locations on Tuesday, February 21st.

These Kids Wear Crowns ‘Jumpstart’ Certified Gold In Canada

On January 10, 2012 – Toronto, ON – Electro dance-pop band, These Kids Wear Crowns just celebrated their first Gold Certification in Canada today for ‘Jumpstart’ which has moved over 40,000 tracks since its release.

The Chilliwack, BC-based group will kick off 2012 with a cross Canada arena tour in Penticton, BC on February 8^th. The 9-city tour in support of Simple Plan will take the band nationwide, before they head to Australia for the Soundwave Festival in March where they’ll be performing on the main stage.

These Kids Wear Crowns rapid growth and success is due in part to the band’s energetic and entertaining live show. They spent most of 2011 touring Canada, South East Asia and Australia in support of ‘Jumpstart’ and garnered exceptional attention from fans and media alike. The band was nominated for two MuchMusic Video Awards and had the #1 Francophone song ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Danser tout la nuit).

The Decemberists Release Live Album

The Decemberists have announced the March 13, release of We All Raise Our Voices To The Air (Live Songs 04.11-08.11), a 20-track live double-album (and triple-vinyl set) culled from the band’s 2011 tour supporting their chart-topping, Grammy-nominated album The King Is Dead. With songs spanning their entire first decade as a band—from their debut EP 5 Songs through each of their six LP’s—We All Raise Our Voices To The Air is the first-ever live album from a band that has grown into one of rock’s most thrilling live acts.

The performances on We All Raise Our Voices To The Air are drawn from 12 different shows at venues including the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Stubb’s BBQ in Austin, Marymoor Amphitheatre in Seattle, and their final two shows at McMenamins Edgefield Amphitheatre in their hometown of Portland, which featured the addition of a horn section that can be heard on several songs.

This live double-album is bound to be a must have! Be sure to add it to your musical collection on March 13, 2012!
