New York, NY - July 12, 2005 - The New York Times declares "The Rise of Gypsy Punkers" in a feature story that ran in the July 2nd Arts section on the burgeoning movement toward Eastern European sounds and gypsy punk rock. At the epicenter of this story was none other than New York's original Gypsy Punk Rockers, Gogol Bordello whose singular sound drives this unique and infectious genre. Check out what its all about when Gogol Bordello's new album Gypsy Punks Underdog World Strike drops on August 9th (Sideonedummy Records). If you can't wait that long, visit www.thesimplemission.com and check out an exclusive preview of "Sally," a track from the forthcoming album. Produced by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Jimmy Page/Robert Plant) "Gypsy Punks Underdog World Strike" continues Gogol Bordello's cultural crusade to build a bridge between Gypsy music, rock'n'roll and other styles of rebel music. Currently dropping jaws on this year's 2005 Warped Tour, Gogol Bordello will hit the road again this August with Flogging Molly. Additional tour dates will be announced soon. Gogol Bordello lead singer Eugene Hutz will also make his Hollywood debut co-starring in the film "Everything Is Illuminated" with Elijah Wood. Hutz scored the role after a chance meeting with director Liev Schreiber to discuss music for the film. This ended what was an exhausting search by the director and producer to find the right person to play the role of "Alex." The film is based on the critically acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer and is set for release on Warner Independent September 16th. www.sideonedummy.com www.gogolbordello.com
